The 2019 Wimbledon Championship
The 2019 Wimbledon Championships enters its second week from Monday 8 July, with many of the sport’s biggest stars still in the hunt for glory at SW19.
Catch the matches LIVE on SS2 and SS12.
On the Ladies’ side, number one seed Ashleigh Barty of Australia is still going strong, though she faces a tough test before the quarterfinal stage as she takes on American Alison Riske.
One of the biggest threats to Barty’s hopes of back-to-back Grand Slam titles comes from seven-time Wimbledon champion Serena Williams, who comes up against the determined Carla Suarez Navarro in the last 16.
British tennis fans will have their hopes pinned on Johanna Konta, who comes up against number six seed Petra Kvitova, while other hopefuls for the crown include Elise Mertens, Elina Svitolina, Karolina Pliskova and Simona Halep.
The Ladies’ semifinals are scheduled to be played on Thursday 11 July, with the final on Centre Court on the afternoon of Saturday 13 July.
On the Gentlemen’s side of Wimbledon, the ‘big three’ of defending champion Novak Djokovic, eight-time winner Roger Federer and French Open title holder Rafael Nadal are all still alive and well in the tournament.
Federer and Nadal look on course for a semifinal meeting, though both will first have to get through last 16 ties against Matteo Berrettini and Joao Sosua respectively. Djokovic comes up against Frenchman Ugo Humbert in the last 16 and is likely to end up tackling Milos Raonic in the semis, assuming he progresses that far.
The Gentlemen’s quarterfinals are set too be played on Wednesday 10 July, the semifinals on Friday 12 July and the final on Centre Court on the afternoon of Sunday 14 July.
