FIFA Women’s World Cup

Nigeria’s clash with Korea Republic will be one of the feature matches for DStv and GOtv viewers to look out for when the second round of group stage matches at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup gets underway this midweek.

SuperSport will be your home for all the thrilling action from the eighth Women’s World Cup (WWC) in France.

Nigeria opened their World Cup campaign on Saturday with a 3-0 loss at the hands of Group A rivals Norway at Stade Auguste-Delaune in Reims, with Guro Reiten, Lisa-Marie Utland and an own goal from Osinachi Ohale accounting for the score line.

Thomas Dennerby’s side will need to make an immediate recovery in their next match, which sees them take on Asian contenders Korea at Stade des Alpes in Grenoble on Wednesday afternoon. Catch all 90 plus minutes live on SuperSport.

Korea also come into the clash on the back of a 4-0 hammering at the hands of hosts France in the tournament opener. The Super Falcons will see this game (which is a first-ever meeting of the teams) as a great chance to put points on the board and boost their hopes of advancing beyond the group stage for the first time since 1999.

DStv and GOtv viewers will no doubt also be keeping an eye out for Nigeria’s fellow African representatives, South Africa and Cameroon. Banyana Banyana, like the Super Falcons, will come up against Asian opponents as they take on China PR at Parc des Princes in Paris on Thursday night, while the Indomitable Lionesses will tackle the might of the Netherlands in Valenciennes on Saturday.

Other key second round games to watch on SuperSport include a crunch Group B match between Germany and Spain, hosts France will have their mettle tested by a tough Norway outfit, defending champions USA take on Chile, and England will face Argentina in Le Havre.
