Message from MultiChoice Africa President
MultiChoice Africa’s vision has always been to provide DStv subscribers with the best home television entertainment in Africa. Over the last 20 years we have made significant investments in building a vibrant and sustainable pay television business on the continent however, this success would not have been achieved without our solid network of partners, franchisees, agents, dealers and installers who help with the operation of our business across the continent.
As pioneers of pay television in Africa we believe we have played a vital role in making information and entertainment more accessible. We have never been shy of exploring new technologies in order to keep Africa abreast with the latest pay television innovations. This is demonstrated in Nigeria, Kenya, Namibia and Ghana where together with our partners we provide the DStv Mobile service, enabling our subscribers to view channels on their mobile phones while on the move. At the same time we are rolling out High Definition (HD) personal video recorders (PVRs).
The key elements to our success is providing unrivalled customer service, making our products and services as accessible as possible to our customers; while focusing on delivering premium channels, both local and international to subscribers in a range of DStv packages that suit our subscriber family viewing requirements. DStv has a strong focus on channels that provide programming made in Africa for Africa. We have also created strategic partnerships with many of the continent’s free to air (FTA) television stations, and provide digital distribution for their sound and/or television broadcasting services.
We understand the importance of human resource development in fully unleashing the human potential in Africa. We continue to invest heavily in training, skills development and corporate social investment projects to promote and encourage social and economic transformation in Africa.
Our faith in and investment on the continent has been rewarded with exceptional growth of our business. Our success has been built by listening to what our customers want, delivering world-class television channels and supporting the DStv service with exceptional customer service. We remain confident about Africa’s future and the continued growth in pay-television in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Collins Khumalo – President MultiChoice Africa
Message from Company CEO
MultiChoice Africa is committed to partnering with local entrepreneurs, governments and broadcasters across Africa and tailoring its operations to suit local needs while maintaining the highest levels of service and product quality. Our success and growth is a result of our strong local partnerships, which have enabled the company to operate with an understanding of, and respect for, the many different cultures found on this diverse continent. The DStv bouquets are widely recognised and admired, to the extent that we have representation in just under 50 countries in Sub-Sahara Africa. Our ongoing success on the continent is hugely dependent on the talent and creativity of our employees and partners. We will continue to partner with Africa to ensure that we remain a truly African business dedicated to meeting the needs of our subscribers.
There is increasing demand across the continent for the localisation of TV content. Through our premium channel suppliers MNet and SuperSport we remain committed to creating and supporting African content, made by Africans, for Africans. There has been an extensive focus on local programming which has resulted in not only a significant investment in the creation of content, but has resulted in the training of African film crews and production staff.
As an African business, one of MultiChoice Africa’s goals is to actively participate in social transformation within the communities we operate in. Rapid expansion and a steadfast belief in a bright future for our business in Africa have ensured that we continue to invest significantly, not only in our people and operations, but also in the broader African economy and its communities. In each country of operation we endeavour to create new job opportunities, train and empower.
MultiChoice Africa also believes it is important for corporate Africa to make a contribution to the continent’s development. Education and access to information are key to the development and growth of a nation, and therefore we have invested in MultiChoice Resource Centres and e-schools now in over 400 schools across the continent.
