DStv Channel Shift

It's been 6 months since we asked you to do the 3-digit channel shift with us, and we appreciate your positive response to our new channel numbers. In keeping with the suggestions and comments you have made, we have decided to update and improve our service offering.

From the 1st of May, we will combine the movie and general entertainment channels into an easy-to-find channel cluster (which couldn't be easier to navigate), starting at channel 100.

The news and commerce channels will also move to a new channel cluster, starting at channel 400. This way, you don't have to surf through the news channels to reach music or kids' channels.

Revised channel grids are available on this website. You can also use your remote to help you find your way: press any of the arrow keys to access the full DStv channel grid, scroll until you find the channel you want (using the arrow keys, again), and then press OK to autotune.

After the channel shift it will be so much easier to find your favourite channels using the channel grid.

The channel grid displays a list of all available channels in the DStv bouquet and is a quick way to check what's showing on your favourite channel. It is also a great way to tune to a channel when you're not quite sure what number that channel is on.

To display the channel grid, press any of the arrow keys on your remote control.
(Please ensure that there is no other information on-screen, e.g. the i-plate, bouquet options etc, when you press the arrow keys)
Use the arrow keys to move the highlights around the grid. As you move the highlight, you will notice that the information on the i-plate (at the bottom of the screen) updates to reflect the programming information on the selected channel. To tune to the selected channel, simply press 'OK". To view extended programme information, press "i".

Why are you shuffling channels again?
Following the successful implementation of the channel shift 6 months ago and feedback from customers, we've made some improvements to the channel numbering and grouping. One of the important recommendations from subscribers was to number our key channels and genres in a manner that is easier to remember. Movies and general entertainment will be merged into one category - and these numbers will start at 100. News and commerce channels will be moved from 280 to 400. These changes will provide our customers with seamless channel surfing and an enhanced viewing experience.

When does the channel Shift happen? The changes will be implemented on 1 May 2008.
